02The latest signal

Glass Hours

A slow-burning single written on the night bus and finished at sunrise: a heartbeat kick, a cracked Juno pad and a vocal recorded in one take, close enough to hear the breath before every line.

04The story

Not made for the background.

Black-and-white portrait: a figure in darkness, face mostly in shadow, turned towards a single spotlight.

Fig. 04 — Before the set, Lisbon

NOCTURNE is the late-night project of a songwriter and producer who records almost exclusively between midnight and dawn — in borrowed rooms, on a second-hand Juno, through one good microphone.

The songs are built slowly, then left alone: close-mic’d vocals, tape hiss kept in, drums that sound like someone moving furniture in the next flat. Records you put on when the house is finally quiet.

I write for the drive home, the kitchen at 3 a.m., the minute after the door closes. If a song can live in that minute, it gets to stay.
